In the past three years of the Italian Film Festival, one of the highlights has been the final day’s movie and intermezzi dinner at Scalo. Our 2010 offering may be the best yet, as we present Boccaccio 70 and another sumptuous Italian dinner at Scalo Northern Italia Grill.

Boccaccio 70 is four short films, each directed by a giant in Italian cinema and each featuring some of the most beautiful women to ever grace the screen. The first of the quartet is LaGrande Guerra (The Great War), directed by Mario Monicelli, about two working class lovers who have to keep their impending nuptials a secret.

The second short film is directed by Federico Fellini, starring the ravishing Anita Ekberg. In this delightful romp…. a prudish censor tries to ban a 100-foot billboard of Ekberg, only to find himself taunted and hounded by its sensual gaze.

Between the second and third film, patrons will cross Central Av. to enjoy a specially prepared Italian intermezzo dinner.

Upon returning to the theater, the audience will enjoy the third playlet, by Luchino Visconti. Pupi (Romy Schneider) discovers her husband having an affair, setting off a scandal. The final film, directed by Vittorio DeSica, stars the greatest siren in cinema history, Sophia Loren, as Zoe, selling her body for sex in order to pay her pregnant sister’s overdue taxes. All great stars, all great directors, all great movie.
