Roberto Benigni, world renowned comedic actor, makes a return appearance on the New Mexico Italian Film Festival screen with Johnny Stecchino. You get double your money’s worth of Benigni as he plays two parts in this hilarious 1991 comedy.

Benigni plays Dante, a rather hapless school bus driver, who gets caught up in the middle of a Mafia plot. While on vacation in Sicily Dante meets Maria (Nicoletta Braschi), an attractive and wealthy woman from Palermo. Of course, Dante immediately falls in love.

Life then becomes complicated for the main character and uproariously funny for the audience.

Roberto Benigni also directs and was the co-writer with Vincenzo Cerami. Mr. Cerami has relatives in Albuquerque who are involved in the restaurant and Italian deli businesses.

Running time: 101 minutes.
