The New Mexico Italian Film Festival is very proud to be able to present Martin Scorsese’s My Voyage to Italy. Scorsese takes his audience through his personal journey of classic Italian films, paying tribute to writers, directors and actors. His tutorial is unique and provides New Mexico audiences the opportunity to better appreciate the offerings presented by your own Italian Film Festival. Many of the 2007 and 2008 IFF film selections are excerpted in this film.

My Voyage to Italy. It is more than a movie. It is a master’s class in film-making from one of the most respected film makers in the world. Martin Scorsese, Academy Award winner for Lifetime Achievement, is the teacher and Italian film is the textbook. Anyone interested in film-making and Italian film must see this epic work. It is not only a class on how to make films, but also valuable insight on how to watch movies.

For those in the audience who may be of Italian descent, as Mr. Scorsese found, watching Italian movies allows the viewer to discover their ancestral family. His narration and showing of four to six minute clips of so many of the “classic” Italian movies is a real education, in a most entertaining fashion. My Voyage to Italy will be your best bargain in your movie-going experience.

Any New Mexico student, from any New Mexico school, may show their student ID and admission will be a $5 donation to the UNM Children’s Hospital.
