The New Mexico Italian Film Festival always wants to be inventive, unique, risk-taking and appealing. Seldom would any self-respecting film festival bring back a film from the previous year. But, we are different. Many wondered about why Nine Good Teeth was in the list of 2007 films. It was a documentary….It was in English…. It was written and produced by someone with a non-Italian name…. and nobody in New Mexico had ever heard of the title before. Sorpresa, sorpresa, sorpresa ! (That’s surprise, surprise, surprise in Italian.) We are bringing Nine Good Teeth back and you do not want to miss it.

During the 2007 Italian Film Festival, we ran the 2002 film written and directed by Alex Halpern, at the Guild Cinema, where we had to turn people away. Those who did see it are still talking about Halpern’s 104-year old grandmother, who stars in this delightful romp through the family album. This film was surely last year’s “peoples’ choice”.

Nine Good Teeth will play twice during the Festival, first at the Lobo Theater at 5:00PM on Friday Feb. 14th and a second play at the  Guild Cinema at 3:00PM on Saturday Feb. 16th. Bring the whole family and be sure to bring your, mother, your grandmother and your favorite aunt.
